    CCI Primer Production

Guys, My intention for this post never was to point fingers and accuse of hoarding or other issue from within CCI or their conglomerates. I know for a fact that the BR4 is out of production for engineering reasons, Coy Getman (CCI) told me so. Coy can be difficult to reach at times. The fact is...

    CCI Primer Production

Does anyone know if CCI has resumed production on their primers, namely BR-4? I spoke to Coy Getman last fall and he indicated to me that production on all BR-4's was halted due to engineering changes. Thanks

    1.062" X 18 Tap

Does anyone have a tap this size? I have a threaded insert from Kelblys' that is used in their Panda actions. It seems like I have picked up some metal in one of the threads and I need to run a tap through it. I would like to either borrow a tap or send my insert to someone to have a tap run...

    BAT 25 Degree Cone Depth

You're right Butch, my Panda gage should and will work. I am just trying to get a measurement.......a depth of cut from the end of the barrel tenon........so I can get it right without having to take the barrel out of the spiders, trial fit the cone depth, and risk setting it back up to take a...

    BAT 25 Degree Cone Depth

The reason I was asking is because the action is glued in and I can't check it without taking the barrel out of the lathe. I was hoping that someone would have a magic depth on the "Z" axis, in thousandths, after touching off on the edge of a fresh 6BR chamber. I built my own depth gage/dial...

Use as long of a barrel as you can and still make weight. 26" + would be nice if you can do it

    Web bump

Sounds like you need a die with a smaller base that the die that you have. No way to fix yours, it needs material added. You need another die.

How much clearance between the firing pin and the firing pin hole do you allow when bushing a firing pin hole?

    Surfacing Boltface/Bushing Firing Pin hole

Could any of you see anything wrong with machining a boltface in a CNC Mill? I am talking about standing the bolt body up vertically and running a Circular pocket program with a solid carbide endmill. Of course, the bolt body would need to be held perfectly vertical in V-Blocks. I want to bush...

    Remington Model 37 Rangemaster questions

I own two rem 37's, love them both, and will never part with either one of them. One is a 13.5 lb that shoots WAY better than I can. (just ask Doug Weeter) I made a switch barrel sporter out of my other one. The .22 barrel is a Border and the second barrel is a Lilja in .17 Mach II. The .17...

    Bore Diameter

A friend of mine has a .236" barrel on his 6PPC, I have a .237" on mine. I cut both chambers in both barrels with the same reamer. He consistently gets just over 100 fps faster (through a chrony) than me with identical loads. Is this due to the bore diameter? I simply don't know but it is...

Is Truing a Savage Target Action different than a Remington?

I have been under the impression that the locking nut on a Savage is part of the "magic" in their inherent accuracy. If using the locking nut, it is not much worth the effort of trueing, not much to be gained. If using a shouldered tenon the trueing might become more valuable. Please correct me...

    The " Crown "

The shape of the crown doesn't really matter much. What is important is that it is sharp crisp and clean with no nicks, dings or burrs.

    beginner is back....

Did you have a chance to go to a shoot and look at rifles and shoot a few? If not, that would be your first step. Now is the time to buy a used rifel, many are selling to fund other projects for the winter. As far as custom actions, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the "big" names...

    Cowan Rests

With the fall ‘08 run of front rests nearing completion and shipment, it has become apparent to me that the April ’09 run is sold out. We have begun taking reservations for Nov of 2009. Wow! To me and my students, this is almost unbelievable, as we are now taking reservations for over a year...
