We had 15 shooters at our match yesterday here at Sault Sainte Marie. The weather was not very warm, but better than our first two matches this year. The 15 MPH wind gave us an uncomfortable chill factor. We kept a fire going in the squadding room wood stove, attached to the covered firing line. The guys over on the right side of the range, against the North burm, seemed to be shooting in a honey hole. Leo Hedger is always over there on bench 16, and he beat BOTH of the Jones Boys in the Unlimited Class yesterday. (Not an easy thing to do)
Reg Richardson our friend from Canada was the only one brave enough to put up a target at 50 yards. (The USBR 50 yard curse). That thing is humiliating at 50 yards, when the wind is blowing. BUT: Our 25 yard Outlaw Match Program on that USBR target is without doubt a success. We have better match attendance UP here than most of the clubs in the county that promote matches sanctioned by the National Rimfire Associations. Our average match attendance over the past two years has been 19 shooters per match.
