Wondering about powder residue from 2 powders.

I shoot a .220 swift and use it for a number of different things. Therefore I have 2 different loads for it which I alternate. One with RE-15 and the other with H414. Is there any problem with alternating the loads without cleaning the barrel? Will the mixture of the two different types of powder resdidue in the barrel cause any type of corrosive reaction or anything? I can't see that it would but I want to be on the safe side!

Powder residue

Doubtful. All powders now days and primers have gotten rid of all corrosive elements. They are all pretty much the same. I have used diffrent powders i.e brands in my swift at the same shooting session. Developing a load I used as many as 5 diffrent combos. As of date I have never seen any corrosion or adverse effects from the residue. Copper residue, Yes . Powder Residue, No.

While you're not likely to see corrosion from switching powders I've found when testing loads that it usually takes a rifle a few rounds to settle down if the powder fouling from one powder isn't cleaned from the bore when switching. It doesn't require a full barrel cleaning, but a wet patch or two and two or three dry patches seems to work. That makes switching loads in the field sort of a pain in the tail. It's also necessary to fire a couple foulers after the cleaning usually too.

If your rifle can go from one load to the other and back again without changing POI there's no harm though.
