Wipeout Coming Out Brown?

A friend, knowing that I am an ardent user of Wipeout Accelerator and foam, recently posed a question. He is using these products in a quality stainless match barrel. He is not getting evidence of copper (blue patches). The first patches come out black. On subsequent applications his patches come out brown. I have never experienced this. We surmised it is because he has continued to use nylon brushes. He is not using moly-coated bullets.

Any ideas? I suggested he stop brushing because it is not needed.

When cleaning carbon from a piston in an engine if you wipe it with a white rag it is brown. Id bet the black was powder residue and brown is carbon like mark said

Fellow shooter left it in a "match grade" barrel for his 1903. Maybe associate is a better term. NOT a Benchrest shooter. Think's It Is Stupid to support a national organization.
Anyway after 3 days. He got a lot of brown. It might be called iron oxide or rust is a better term.
He ask me about this. I asked, did you read the directions? Answer was no.............
