Why don't you check with Dan Killough before you buy? I have seen some that are very simple and quite unique that his uncle, Donald Prime, makes.

Pete,
You might google B&H Camera. They have quite a large selection. Also check the Giotto Ball swivels, MH1004. I put them on top of my stands and use them to level the flags.

Be sure and ask about the stands that his uncle, Donald Prime, is working on. I have seen them in the last month only and they are very packable and wind resistant.
