I took some decisions for 600 and 1000 Yards rifle. The caliber will be 300 WSM, Krieger barrel 1:10 twist 1,450 straight contour 30'' plus brake.Berger 210 VLD bullets. The action will be a Bat right bolt, left port only. The decision has to be made between the M type and 3L type. Further decision is round or multiflat?
What you suggest?
Thanks

The only way I would hang that much bbl on a BAT Mod M action is if I used a BBL block. Otherwise, use a 10" X 2" BAT mod. "L" action. I don't know if it is available in a 3 lug.

Also, if you are going to use a 1.45 strait taper, you won't make LG weight restrictions, and they don't allow brakes in the HG class. I have a bat Mod M 1.55 round and use a fluted 30" HV taper and had to mill out my stock to make weight.

I would consider a dual port.....I have a RB LP, and after picking my match brass up off of the concrete i wish I had gone with a duel port. I have to lay out a sleeping bag on the concrete to keep my brass from gitting all dinged up. Just one more thing to take to a match. Now, if we had matches up here when it is 25 degrees below zero, carring a sleeping bag in the trunk makes good sence for safety reasons......and we are all about safety, right????:D

Just my .02 worth, but I have been scouting HG's now for two years and finally picked one up this fall.

Good luck,
Tod

If it is going to be a BAT action, just contact Bruce Thom and ask. He won't steer you wrong. I imagine a call to the states could be expensive, & sometimes the phone there rings & isn't answered, even in the 4:00pm to 6:00pm slot (Mountain Standard time). Email would probably work fine. Let us know if you have problems contacting him.

BTW, it is BAT and not Bat -- BAT are the initials for Bruce A. Thom.
