I have a used barrel that I have no idea how it was originally set up for chambering.
I would simply like to enlarge the neck and set it back a thread or so.
(Curenty have a .262 neck) have a reamer with a .269 neck.
The question is do I indicate the current neck area and the muzzle ??(running the risk that if it was not previously done this way I could oversize the chamber/body of the case area)
OR
Indicate the neck and the base of the chamber/ leading edge?
Thanks for any help.

If you will also indicate off the existing torque shoulder I think you can get it chucked up to your satisfaction.

All the cylindrical surfaces of the chamber should be concentric. Start by indicating and zeroing the chamber neck and the chamber base.

After that is zeroed, check the chamber body/shoulder area and the muzzle. The chamber body at the body/shoulder intersection should agree with the chamber neck and the chamber case.

The muzzle will probably be out some. Nothing you can do about that.
