What's wrong with Vegas?

Used to be group NBRSA matches held in Sin City and it has now been reduced (do I dare say that?;)) to only one or two hunter matches per year. I heard there were problems with the host club or something and setting moving backers. Anyone know the full story what happened?

It sure would be nice to have that venue back. CHeap hotel rooms, great restaurants, great evening entertainment, and the weather would be perfect for late autumn and early spring matches. And the best part, it doesn't take a whole day to drive there!

It's been a long, long time since there were any group matches in Las Vegas. The biggest problem was the lack of a reliable person to run the matches. There was always talk about the range shutting down, moving, etc etc but the lack of a match director is what really killed it.

I would guess that the frames and backers for group matches are either gone or in a sad state of repair by now. So, anyone wanting to get things started again would have a big job.

Oh yes, I forgot. The WIND!:eek:

They had aluminum engine blocks and the unlined cylinders would score heavily causing premature failure.

Oh...never mind

I think they were iron engine blocks and they were chained to the concrete benches to keep them from blowing away.

Las Vegas

I've been to Vegas dozens and dozens of times and never noticed any wind. Is there wind in Las Vegas?

I live in Vegas and yes the wind does blow, but so does Phoenix! We have a new range being built north of town. It will be nicer than Ben Avery when finished. John Loh was also interested in having matches here again and said attendance would be no problem from the California shooters. We need a match director that knows what he or she is doing if we can pull it off.
The OLD moving backers from Desert Sportsman are in storage at the club.
