Whats the best calibre rifle for 1000 yard target competition?
 
small....6 dasher 6 br 6 6.5 47
medium 300 wsm 300 win mag 7 mm mag
big anything from big 300's to 338s and such.
i am sure there are more, lots of variables.
heavy gun or lite gun ?

6mm dasher is very popular in places right now, no recoil, cheap to shoot decent bbl

( this is from my search on 600 yd shooting, which i am thinking of doing )

Dasher or a 6.5-7mm short mag of some type for light and a very large 30cal magnum for heavy like a 300baer
 
If I were building one rifle for both Light and Heavy class, it would be a 6 Dasher. If you want to also build a dedicated Heavy gun, say from 30-70 pounds, a 300WSM is winning a lot these days. It's like a big, fat Dasher in 30 cal. Samuel Hall
 
Sam got a buddy shooting and he has a 6mm Dasher, And that's what I told him! Fear a man with one rifle! Mine are both 300 WSM.
