What is the distance for the rear stock screw on a 1903 A3 Springfield

Hi All:

What I am asking is how far apart is the rear floor plate top and the bottom of the tang? This where the rear action screw goes through the stock. Also, should rifle action touch the front boss in the trigger guard where the front action screw is installed.

I would guess that there should be a bit of a space between the magazine box and the action. Perhaps about .030" would be correct.

Is there a method that I may determine the correct spacing for both actions by assembling the magazine/floor plate to the action.

I am making a stock from scratch and would like to know how much wood to leave in the action area.

Pretty hard to measure, the distance is different from top to bottom on the rear one, it is angled different than the front, not parallel with it. I think .030 is a bit excessive but it should not touch.
