Gone for 2 1/2 weeks. Back yesterday and checked this forum. What triggered the "nuclear option"???

"Sorry to have removed some good stuff.

Proceeding from here, politics will be "limited". I'll leave it for now that you know the limits.

Play nice!............Wilbur"

We are lucky to still have it.....

.....I thought she was a gonner.

It was the darnest thing you ever saw

The thing just self destructed.

We sure learned one thing. You don't want to mess with Wilbur.

Vic,

You would have had to see it to understand it. The level of personal attacks rose and rose and a lapse of common courtesy happened. Wilbur warned us to play nice but we just could not help ourselves. Someone through sand in someone else's face and it just went down hill from there and before you knew it the screen went blank and now here we are talking about songs and coffee and little league baseball and nice stuff.:)

That about the way it happened, more or less.

More or less

I thought it was because I apologized to Mr. D. I just didn't think it would cause the shock to the point of cleaning house. As I said before, I made the mistake and apologizing was the right thing to do.

Politics caused it Vic...

Seriously, what triggered it??

....Wilbur is giving us a 2nd chance to save the general & certain political discussions got heated and had no place being on a shooting forum.....thus the new rules 'limited & play nice' are now in place.

It was just ugly and not a true pic of how br.com members should behave or a direction in needed to go any further. Be glad you missed it & thank Wilbur for giving us another chance!!

That's funny right there.

That's past history Tracker, let it go as water under the bridge! Allot of people went over the line including your's truly at the end. I got pretty pi$$y in my responses to you! Not my finest moments!

Maybe we should all demonstrate to Wilbur that we can talk about politics, etc. as civil, mature adults without insults, labeling, name calling and character attacks. I don't know Mr. Wilbur, but he must be a wise man because he didn't treat us like children and say, "No politics!" I quote him, "I'll leave it for now that you know the limits. Play nice!"

I think he was saying, "WE" need to set some civil and mature limits as to how we all behave on his forum. I think we owe that to him and ourselves!

Thanks!

OK--thanks. I was really curious.

Thank goodness I never participated in the political threads myself. Strictly guns and shooting. I'm not at all interested in politics. But maybe this year I'll look into it. Just not here.

Please, pretty please with sugar & sprinkles, don't talk politics, unless you can tell me how to tune a barrel by stuffing it up the fundament of one of the contenders (without getting personal of course)!

I could be wrong, but I can't recall any of you guys ever saying anything like, "Hot damn! You've convinced me! I going right out to vote for the....".

Amen John....

...waste of time & energy. There is a long list of sites you can go to posted by smitty if you want to discuss politics.

No reason to push the limits here....Heck, I remember when we didn't have the general forum.

I may take a cruise on some of those sites just to see what it they are like.

Many of the political sites are just for those who consider themselves world class intellects and debaters at a very young age. They are often much more about being impressed with themselves and their verbage than really communicating with someone who is a real person living in a real world.

When I discuss politics I don't want applause, I want someone with a different view of the world that will make me challenge my own views. You don't get that in a forum where everybody thinks the same.

Every so often, I have lunch with my very conservative partner in home building. We enjoy talking about politics through the whole lunch with laughs. We never get irritated, but both educate each other and pull each other toward the middle ground. I wish Congress could do that!

OK, I'll be the first: You've convinced me! I am going to vote for Democrats this year!

OOPS! Is this too political?

No, likely not to happen very often, but talking to other shooters has moved me to the right on gun legislation. It makes me more aware of gun issues and to see another person's point of view! Talking is a good thing, insulting is not! That's the issue!
