What bullet to use?

I've been shooting my new Savage Model 12 6mmBR, and have aquired about 400 pieces of new Lapua brass. I quess it's time to start reloading. The new Lapua is about $40 per 20 shells (very costly). I would like to cut my cost per shell down a lot. But, I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Can any of you guys give me some advice as to what I could load that works good and doesen't cost an arm and leg? I'm a recreational shooter mostly 100-600 yards. Maybe a little competition later in F-class. Thanks for your assistance.

Sierra

I always use Sierra Match bullets to test the accuracy of any given rifle and the price is right.

Yes... And I'll add Berger....Worth every $... Don't skimp on components and you'll be happy.

I'd suggest Redding for dies...

Jim,

Bullets, tires, and insualtion are not good places to try to cut cost in my opinion. I would find another area to cut and try different bullets to see what shoots in your rifle.

Not knowing everything about how your rifle is to be used.
You might like to know that with the right reloading tools you can reload the cases at the range and load each one many times. (approx 25 x each) may be more. Therefore 10 cases x 25 reloads = 250 shots before you will need to get another 10 new Lapua cases. I think you could send Harrells 3 newly fired cases and they will send you a 6mmBR sizing die with the gizzy so you can bump the shoulder .001 to .002" .

EVERYTHING you need to make an informed decision on the reloading of the 6mmBR is right here: http://www.6mmbr.com/6mmbr.html. Loads, seating depth, powders, bullets, primers, case prep ... you name it, it's here. Art :)

8 Twist. I've been to 6mmBr. A great site. However, I'm mostly looking at costs, rather than the primo load. The Lapua's I've been shooting have given great groups. They just cost a lot. My budget won't allow $2.00 per shot. There has to be a lot cheaper load that will do what I want. Thanks, for the advice.
