Wanting to compete...

Hey everyone, first post here.... I have a Rem 700 5R milspec, karstan cheek riser, atlas bipod & seekins rings and base. My choice in bullet is the 155gr scenar. Would like to get some input on an optic ($1k-$1.2k), & possibly what type of competitions I could get in with this set-up, and if I could be competitive with it? Thanks in advance.....

Where do you live? That will determine the type of matches available at reasonable driving distances.

Tactical/Varmint/Steel....look up ranges in your area (within your traveling distance) and see what's offered .....GO TO MATCHES...Talk to the shooters. See what glass/equipment they're using. What works in one class may not in another. As for glass...Buy once cry once..Just make sure it "fits" the type of comps you'll use it in..20x-25x min. for most Tac/Steel/Var. and double that or more for BR/LR long or short...my 2 cents worth.
