I don't shoot moly bullets. I have a quantity of
moly bullets I would like to clean so I can shoot them.

How do I get the moly off ?

I have not unsealed the box yet to try any techniques, so I maight trade
them to someone.

Michael,
You can remove it with KROIL penetraiting oil on a rag one at a time or I have had success tumbling the bullets.

You could soak them in Kroil for awhile, a few days or so, then get most of the Kroil off (pour it off the bullets and dump the bullets on an old towel and roll them around) then tumble them in corn cob or walnut shell. It may not remove all the moly, but whatever's left on the bullets won't matter much at all.

I have soaked moly coated bullets overnight in a strong solution of Dawn dishwashing liquid , shaking the jar at intervals then rubbing /drying in a towel then tumbling in corn media to remove the moly.

I have succesfully removed moly runing them in a tumbler with pressure washer degreaser and water. Rinse and dry in a towell. Max

Ok, since I don't have atumbler, I will use the kroil.
I am suprised no one mentioned a spray solvent like carburrettor cleaner.

I am suprised someone said clean them one at a time. You must have more time on your hands than I do.
I don't know if I will post results as there seems to be little interest in this kind of problem.

Something that might work quicker is Acetone.
You can find out just by using some of the wifes fingernail polish remover.
If it does work you can buy a quart cheap at the store.
Shouldnt have to do more than slosh them around.
Rinse with a second bath it dries so quick you probably wont need a towel except to dump them out on.
Just a thought.

Shoot them with the moly. Moly will not improve accuracy but it will not hurt accuracy.

If you shoot moly clean your barrel with JB bore paste and Koil.

Moly will let you shoot more between cleaning and if you load correct you can get higher velocity with a lubicated bullet than a naked bullet.

The biggest mistake I EVER made was shooting moly in 3 of my rifles, never did what yall claim, was a total mess to work with, and the 3 rifles started shooting lots better groups about 3 to 4 months After I quit using it. The shoot more between cleaning, and quicker cleaning is all BS as far as I am concerned.

I really didn't want to get into conditioning bores, mowing down moly
build up, worrying about sulphuric acid by broducts, and pressure spikes.

I am not to keen on mixxing up another process into an already demanding process.

You don't have to condition your bore if the bullet has a good coating. Moly buildup is not a big issue at all. It is micrscopic in thickness and will not cause any problem for many hundreds of shots.
You will clean before that ever becomes an issue. Acid production within the barrel is only theoreticly possible from a chemical reaction possibility . In practice with regular cleaning and correct storage no problem exists that is any greater than normal corrosion problems that are there all the time .
If you have factory coated bullets then you can not be sure exactly what coating is on the bullets.
It is fair enough for you to say you don't want to complicate the process that is one of the secrets to using moly, make sure your pattern of use suits moly if it does not , then it's not for you.
One of the big problems is that there is quite a few factory coatings using the name Moly and they are all a bit different and display different results.
Before you can really decide if you like a ceartain coated bullet you have to coat them yourself . Then you know what coating you are actuallydealing with.
It's definately not BS but there are some BS coatings around that are not much better than black paint.

There is thousands of shooters out there using Pure MoS2 coating and getting full matches out of a gun without cleaning . Any accuracy claim is subjective to what kind of test you did.
Testing one way can favor the uncoated bullet and testing anotherway can favor the coated bullet.
However how accurate is an uncoated bullet after firing 300 shots WITHOUT any cleaning ? not very . How accurate is a coated bullet if you clean ever 10 shots? not very.
There is a pattern of use that suits one or the other but not both.

If you do not intend to use them, why not just trade them off and not worry with it?
