VT State Score Championship

I just wanted to thank the guys in VT for putting on another great match this year. My father and I have made the last two yardage championships and have had a great time on both occasions. The conditions were challenging and the company was great.
Great shooting and congratulations to those who placed as the 200yd event on Sunday was very challenging with winds gusting to upwards of 30mph.

I also wanted to apologize to those on my relay for losing my cool on the last shot of the match. I was clean at 200yds through 4 matches and it would have been my first 500 and in those conditions I was really focusing hard. I dropped a nine on the last shot after hitting four decent bulls including an X and tossed my ear muffs to the floor beneath my bench (I was actually laughing when I did it and continued to smile and laugh as I looked through the scope at that lonely bullet hole). No verbal outburst, but I feel that I probably distracted those around me and that is not something I like to see or be a part of.
If it had been at any other point even on that target I most likely wouldn't have even flinched (well maybe a few choice words under my breath), but either way it was not very sportsmanlike and I am not proud of it. It may not have even registered to some, but I felt ashamed after I got in the car and reflected on the day.

Thanks again to those who ran the match and we will be back next year to give it another go.
Thanks again,
Mike

You should have been there when Orland heaved his rest onto the range at Orrington. I was there but unfortunately did not see it happen as I was concentrating on shooting. Throwing down your earmuffs is pretty minor.
Nice of you to apologize however.

Good shooting to Kim, Herbie, and Wayne for bringing the big wood back to Maryland.

Mike,

If this is the worst thing you ever do at a match you are on Relatively Solid Ground. I think most of us have reacted in a similar manor when something grabbed one one of our intestines and pulled pretty hard :). Life sucks and then we die.

Always a pleasure - - -

I find it a pleasure, always, to visit Caledonia F&F to shoot. This is the 7 th year of IBS Benchrest at Caledonia and it is just wonderful that Reed and Dr Bill are still hanging in providing us with one of the most enjoyabe venues to shoot of all place I have competed. Things have changed over the years but the friendships have only grown stronger and it is so nice to see the numbers of folks who, in many cases, travel a long distance to compete there. It is indeed a tribute to the experience to see that the program is still growing and the venue a desired destination.

These venues do not run automatically and those running them can always use whatever help "The Regulars" can provide. Most often, one or two people end up doing most of the work at these events. Imagine if one or both of those doing most of the work either decide they don't want to do it any longer or become unable to do it any longer! These venues should not need to pay folks to do a lot of the work that is required to provide these oportunities for all of us. Pitch IN and help when you can. If there is to be a continuation of this oportunity there needs to be more folks involved and folks need to step up to help.

I can think of three and more venues that use to hold shoots. For the lack of folks to step up, they no longer host any events. lets think about this and act.

Thank You Caledonia,

Pete

Mike we enjoyed having you as allways. I cought the ear muff toss, beeing right behind you, no biggie trust me we have seen alot worse for alot less. Running the line that relay, I'm just glad you had secondary hearing protection in your ears to or it could have been a self punishing crime, since the shooting wasnt over. Dont tear yourself up over it, keep it fun, and look forward to seeing you next year either down at your place or up here.

Mike,
I really felt for you on that one. As soon as it happened I knew it musta been the last shot of the match.
I had a great time this weekend. Great range, great shooters and trying conditions. I know I will definately be back to have another go at this range.
Thanx to Bill Sargent and the rest of his crew for a great weekend.

In case some may not know Mike, I will say he and his father are a class act. I have had the pleasure to shot with them a few times over the past couple years. Its always fun to arm chair shoot through the spotting scope with his Father and believe me Mike, we all felt the same way when that shot went out. I was rooting for you too. Its never a given to stay clean at 200 on any day and to get that close in those conditions, you pulled off a great match.
I'll bet it was a long ride home for the boyz' in Kims vehicle .. Great shooting Kim, that was an awesome display of patience .
This shoot is one thats on my ta do list since I first shot there 3 Years ago. Great people, facilities, and always a challenge of some sort.
