Varmit for score question

I'm going to my first VFS match next weekend. 10 or 15 years ago I shot a lot of hunter class along with 3 hunter nationals.
This is different.
I have a full blown heavy varmit 30 BR rifle I plan to take. Should I use a 40 or 45 power scope or should I go with something like a 24 leupold that has a better field of view for my flags while still being able to see bullet holes. I used to be able to see the holes of a 30 cal just fine with a 6x.

Most everybody uses a minimum of 36 power in VFS.

Dave,

I would go no higher in power than the 45. I had the opportunity to shoot a 50 March at 200 at the NBRSA Varmint Nats, and at 200 yards it was vaseline soup when the mirage was running. Personally, I am going to stick with my 36 Leupolds and Weavers. The high magnification can be used at 100 yards, but it is a impediment at 200 and beyond in my opinion.
