varmintguy - benchrest question

Under a previous thread titled "3x9 and accuracy" inone your posts you made the following statement -

"At the last BR competition I was at nary a 3x9 was seen or alluded to!
Dittoes at the last 1,000 yard BR event I attended!"

I posted a question to you which you have not responded to it, I would appreciate it if you would let me know where you are attending benchrest matches - I do not care if they are registered or just club matches, I would like to have more opportunities to compete and since you are attending matches I am assuming that they are in "our" general area.

My earlier post -

VG,
"Where are you attending BR matches? I would like to compete a little more than I have been recently and since we are in the same neck of the woods (a couple of hundred miles or so) maybe there are some competitions nearby that I am unaware of. I am set up for both short range and 1000 yard and driving a bit doesn't bother me too much. I put on a little over 4500 miles last year driving to compete and a little over 2000 on PD trips, luckily I have lots of gopher shooting nearby.

Have you started competing in BR? If so what you shooting, short range and 1000 yard? It is a lot of fun isn't it, not to mention frustrating and it certainly makes one skeptical of the small groups that are talked about on the internet."

I am looking forward to your response.

Drover: Where do you go to church?

I would appreciate if you could divulge every single personal tidbit about yourself!

YOUR posted reasons for inquiring into someone (MY!) personal habits are simply not reason enough for me to divulge ANYTHING about myself to YOU!

The old schoolyard saying "mind your own business" was the FIRST thing to come to mind after reading your post.

IF (and notice the emphasis on "IF"!) you REALLY can't find a place to compete or attend a BR match simply try the Missoula, Montana BR events. They are well attended and a couple of records have been set there of recent.
I have enclosed a link here for you in case you really can NOT find a BR range on your own!

I think you are a Mormon?
Am I right?

Vamintguy! I thought the idea was to encourage new people not drive them away! The way I read his message was to find competitions and maybe even meet up with you! Now I doubt he will want to do either with your response! Give a newcomer a break! ;)

Dmickey: I read it way different than you!

A quote that I like to use occasionally...

"Just because you're not paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you" :D

You posted that you attended BR competition and 1000 yard BR event, since this seemed to be fairly clear from your post, I was simply inquiring where the matches were being held. I further clarified my question by pointing out that perhaps there were some competitions nearby that I was unaware of, I do not know what can be misconstrued about my question. I think that I am aware of most of the registered matches but quite often there are club matches that are not well known outside of the local area, I was hoping to get information concerning some lesser known match that I am unaware of. I am aware of the Missoula matches, and I have been competing in Missoula at the Deep Creek range for quite a few years.

As far as asking if you were competing in BR, that is what is most people would take as casual conversation, or cheerful banter. I did not want to just end the note without some friendly comments and it was a general way of saying thanks in advance for the info.

As far as your reply to me - I have never received a reply this rude from anyone, you have set a new standard for rudeness and name-calling, perhaps you need to have your med’s re-evaluated because they do not seem to be working.

I did not ask any personal questions of you, unless you are referring to the question about if you are shooting BR, since this is a shooting forum I really don’t think that would be considered a personal question by most people on the forum.

Concerning your question to me about where do I go to church and your closing line of “I think you are a Mormon”, what does that have to do with anything? My religious affiliation is not the subject here, and whether I am Mormon, Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, or any other religion has no place in this in conversation. You have shown yourself to be a bigot of the highest order. By that statement you have shown your religious intolerance, it makes me wonder what, and who, else you are intolerant of.

It is one thing to disagree about calibers, the effects of wind, or any of the many other things that shooters disagree about, however you bring the discussions to a new low with your personal attacks. I had often thought in the past that even though you and I disagree sometimes perhaps you would be a person that I would enjoy visiting with in person - not a chance after I have seen your true side!! As a matter of fact I would be concerned about my safety if I were at a match that you were also attending, from your rants and challenges on this and other forums you appear to be the proverbial “loose cannon”.

Drover,
I think you asked valid questions and weren't concerned about anything personal. I didn't read anything like that in your post, only seeking a little knowledge.
I don't think religion has anything to do with this forum.
