We shot the September UBR match at the Gallatin Gun Club yesterday, September 3rd. Turnout was just a little light with 3 of our regulars out due to some surgery for one and 2 more due to a wedding.
The weather was great. We started the 100 yard with the temp around 70º and a light wind from the right. It looked like there would be some great scores and, in fact, there was one. But more on that a little later. As we moved through the 100 yard match the wind does what it typically does at Gallatin, picked up, let off and switched. Jeff Breeden won Factory, Joey Gregory Modified and Jr Rigsby took both Custom & Unlimited all at 100.
When we began the 200 after lunch we had maybe the best condition I've ever seen at Gallatin, certainly in a very long time. We had about a 1 mph left to right which held for the first match and into the 2nd before things returned to normal. It would have been amazing to shoot and entire match like that. We ended the day with a computer glitch that meant folks had to stay around for a while as I rebuilt the entire match from earlier print outs. When all was complete it showed that Jeff Breeden took the GA in Factory, David Jordan with what I think is his first win, in Modified and Jr with the double win in Custom and Unlimited. Also, if the targets hold up to the inspection of the records committee, and I think they will, he win have the new Unlimted GA record with a score of 515.
We had 23 shooters, including some new folks from western KY and 25 rifles for the match. Thanks to all for the support. We will shoot our next match on October 1st.
