at Luther,OK on may 6th-7th.

Ok guys, here is the chance to break out the rails and have some fun!

This will be the first time for UL at Luther. Here is the deal, I am going to donate a bbl to whoever can win the UL grand. John Dumas has been working hard to get the attendance up and this will be a way to help.

An update for Luther

Talked to John Dumas and there will be even more goodies for the match. I hear that Butch Fjoser will be donating primers and also there will be more plaques given for the various wins donated by John personally.

Come on out and have fun. Mr Smallwood, I know you have a new rail. Come on out and give us a butt whooping:D

Richard

You're a funny guy, Richard! And a generous one too. I'm going to call this my "Rush Rail'. At the rate I'm going, I'll be ready in 2112...

Thanks for your bbl contribution and good luck.

update for Luther

John says that we be shooting HV during the UL match. After 3 min into the UL match the bag guns will commence fire.
Weather looks to be nice this weekend, come on out!!

It's been a long time since Okie Shooters had an UL match. Not sure but the last one I shot there was probably a 5 shot group match as it could be run with the same time frame concurrently with the HV. May have been back when R. C. Shaw was the rangemaster. I won't get the privaledge of shooting this one as carpal tunnel surgery has knocked me out of most of the May matches. Hope to be able to shoot Raton at the end of the month. Have fun and shoot lots of .1's.

Mike, hope to see you

at the best of the west. I know I have never shot UL at Luther. Just curious, about what year did they shoot UL down there? I have never shot there with anybody but Rex running the matches.

Sunday might get a little fun with the winds picking up in the 20 mph range. I put an extra rail together a couple weeks ago so Ray Barnes could shoot UL also. He had never run one before except my Kensler when we were testing bullets. Anyway, it will be a fun to shoot match and I hope we get a decent turnout.

Richard

Richard, I don't know what year Rex started running matches there. I had a sleeved Remington in a Hall pattern UL stock back then. I had a two piece front and rear rest with 3/8 steel rods glued to the 5" wide forend and a 3/8 rod mounted to the butt. The rear had windage adjustment with some kind of sighter cam. Needless to say it wasn't fast and you'd better have checked to make sure it was back on target before you fired it. I had that same rifle the first time I ever shot at Seymour. They had a three day shoot there that year. I think it was actually the second match they had ever had at Seymour. P. J. Hart was there from Lafayette, NY. Arnold Jewell had a prototype for his new trigger that he was getting ready to start producing. Pretty well took the benchrest world by storm with it ending triggers going down or firing when you closed the bolt. Lots of progress has been made in the benchrest world since that time.

Richard, told me that John Horn won the 100 UL and the Grand. Richard Brensing won the 200 UL and 2nd in the Grand. That's all I know. I should be recovered from my surgery enough to shoot at Seymour on the 20th. So, looking forward to Seymour as always. If there is a must make UL match, it's Seymour.

Thanks Mike. Is the UL-10 match at Luther going to be a recurring Match for coming years? If so i plan to make the next one. I got some bullets I want to leave with the Berm:). Lived in Edmond,OK for 6 and a half years, never knew there was a range in Luther,Ok.

I plan to make Seymour, before it becomes a ghost town, like some have predicted. Hope to see you.

After visiting

with John Dumas when the match was over he thought that it went over pretty well considering it was the first time for the rails. I think it will be scheduled again for next year. I'd about forgot how much fun ( and challenging ) shooting a rail is.

Richard

Thanks Richard. From what I hear about the winds that visit the Luther Range, shooting a Rail (10 shot) would conceivably be fun and a challenge.

I'll put that one on my list of things to do. A (10 shot) group match would be a great way to dispose of some of my surplus bullets:)

Mike and Glenn, glad you guys will be at Seymour. Joe Henderson and I will be there. It is a great place to shoot and the hospitality is the best.
