August 5th 2017 was about as nice as it gets in mid summer in south central Kentucky. At 6:00 it was about 58º and only reached the low 80's late in the date around the end of the match. Attendance was a bit light as many of our regulars were out of town and others had commitments elsewhere. But we did have 18 rifles at the line with competitors in all four classes. The wind was as the weather guessers say "light & variable"......very variable. I doubt the breeze ever got over more than 6-7 mph and most of the time was much less. But that being said it was difficult to shoot as there were clearly things going on down range that couldn't be seen on the flags. There were good scores, but not what one would have expected looking at the conditions. We do have two possible new records in Unlimited Class. JR Rigsby may have shot the first perfect score (264) in UL and may have also set a new GA. That is yet to be determined by the scoring committee. We will keep you posted about that. But whether of not he did set a new record, he shot extremely well and at worst tired two records. JR obviously won Unlimited, Mike Neville took Custom, Garry Lawrence won Modified and Jeff Breeden won Factory. Much appreciation to Jimmy Brady for the use of his range and the new mown grass. It was good to see Mitch Morris and Ron Jackson. For both it was the first match this season.
Thanks to all who took the time and made the effort to come and shoot.
