TRRC Match Report - June 3rd and 4th - HV/UNL Northwest Regional - Andrews Memorial
This year marked the 1st Andrews Memorial Tournament. The Heavy Varmint and 5 shot Unlimited Northwest Regional is also a great way to honor two brothers that passed within a year of each other. Denny and Bruce Andrews contributed significantly and were great ambassadors to our sport.
The Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club range is set in some of the most beautiful land in the northwest. All the amenities you could want are within easy walking distance: RV parking, electric hookups, nice covered loading area, even hot coffee in the range office. With all this and much more, it’s tough to imagine a more welcoming range than TRRC. It’s not advertised much, but this is the first time of the year we get to bring out the rail guns!
On June 3rd and 4th, 2017, 16 shooters from the northwest traveled to Tacoma, Washington, to attend the third NBRSA match of the year. Saturday was overcast with light breezy conditions. When the sun came out the mirage kicked up a bit. We began with our Heavy Varmint contest at 100 yards on Saturday morning which was won by Larry Boers with a .2108 agg. That afternoon at 200, Dan Kjelland showed his wind reading abilities and won the yardage (.2015"). Larry Boers won the HV grand aggregate with an agg of .2154"
Sunday brought more overcast skies for us, but quickly warmed up in the afternoon. We shot the Unlimited class at 200 yards in the morning. Jeff Lewis shot a .1795 agg. to win the yardage. At 100 yards, Jeff again took the yardage with a .1380 agg. Jeff Lewis easily won the Unlimited grand aggregate (.1587") ,
but Larry Boers with his dominate performance overall, holds on to win the 2 gun with a .1952" Grand agg.
We relish the time we get to spend with our benchrest family. As you can see from the pictures, we have fun!
It was great to see Robin Andrews drive over from Idaho just to visit us too.
Thank you to all our out of town guests for traveling all the way from Oregon to come shoot with us.
A total of 6 Screamer groups were fired by Mustafa Bilal, Jeff Lewis, and Larry Muller!!
Thank you to Jim, Karen, Zach and Craig for all their efforts in putting together a great match.
Next month is Sniper King
We will draw for benches Friday evening at 6pm, and begin our first match at 100 yards Saturday at 9am.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WILL BE SHARING EQUIPMENT OR NEED SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION !!
