Anyone been through the gunsmithing program at Trinidad and care to speak of your experiences?
How was the classes? How is the town? Have any luck making money after?

PM me if you prefer.

I have. I loved it. Even though I got shot it was a great two years there.

Unfortunately that was in 1966-67... all my instructors have retired, some passed.

I think however it is even a better course today.

Ohh sure Dennis, always get in a plug for the undisciplined American redneck backseat shooter :D:D

I went from 82-84. Like Dennis my instructors have retired although Leonard Bull and Ed Shulin are still in town. Took a couple of the summer courses last year and plan to do the same this summer. The school has more and better machinery and instructors. The new third year program that will focus on business management will be great. Loved the area so much that about ten years ago I bought 35 acres 10 miles west of town. I leave a fifth wheeler there for the summer.

Back then the El Rancho was the wild spot to be on weekends. Live music, cold beer and lots of senoritas. After a night of drinking and dancing we'd head out rte 12 to Toti's at about 0300 to have the best green chili burgers ever made. The place is now Bob and Earls, good food, but Toti's will never be topped.

Highly recommend the school. I learned a lot of skills that I've applied in many areas over the years. The training and education will give you an excellent foundation to build upon.

Bob and earls is a good eat but ju-jo's is where we always went to on friday nights.
