torqueing screws on a savage synthetic stock

My buddy purchased a new 116fhsak Weather Warrior in 300 Win Mag, we went out to break it in today after 40 rounds of factory ammo, so far the barrel is coppering heavy, hope this goes away after another 30 rounds or so, since this is the first time I am around a Savage rifle with a synthetic stock, all my Savages have wood stocks with pillars and I am very familiar how to torque the action screws, but yesterday I went to check the action screw on this one with a synthetic stock, I could have went another turn easily, what is the procedure on torquing the action screws on these models with the synthetic stocks, I figured the screws should tighten the same since there are pillars, but it felt very spongy when I went another turn on the screws, I did turn them back where they were, any comments

I just tighten mine without a torque wrench, what I call "good n tight", I never have a problem with backing out or accuracy, as for the coppering,,,,,, welcome to owning a Savage ( No pun intened ) of my 9 savage rifles with factory barrels, 2 copper like hell but ALSO shoot like a house on fire!! after breakin, I clean with Wipeout Foam, leaving it in overnight, patch that out, then follow with a patch of Sweet's 7.62 the next day, and never get copper after the sweets. Who cares on a deer/varmit rifle if it coppers if it shoots good??

I have a Savage with a synthetic stock and it felt spongey when I tightened the rear action screw. I discovered the receiver was binding as it was pulled down into the stock against the pillars. After relieving material around the rear of the receiver, it came down against the pillar as it was supposed to. It shot a lot better after that. It's one thing to try. Hope this works.
