Too hot to shoot?

my groups start opening up when my barrel gets hot or it may need a cleaning. don't know which is the cause. sometimes the barrel is too hot to put my hand around. is there a general rule to follow about barrel temp? thanks.....
 
Tv. It depends on, how big is your wallet?
Got a big wallet. Let er rip.
Barrels are like tires. The next one will always shoot better.

It also depends on what and where you are shooting.
High Power Tournament. That's lots of rounds. It will get hot....
Just a plinker. 5 - 10 shoots. Let it cool and maybe clean.
PD shooting. Put your cleaning fluid in the ice chest. Heard some guys run cold water down the barrel.
Put the ice chest on the table. Rifle on the ground. Siphon hose down the barrel. :cool:
