Tomball Tx, Tomball Gun Club and Range

I live in the Tomball area (Just off Hardin Store Rd). Myself and several shooting friends were not aware that the TGC and range even existed. I have read on this forum that it is a nice range. I drive by today and got to the locked gate. Heading the warning sign I turned around and drove away. Can someone tell me how to contact the TGC as my friends and I are interested in using the range and possibly joining the organization. It would be much closer for us than driving to some of the ranges we have been using. Thank You :D

Tomball Range

Burkejl, I see you haven't gotten an answer yet. I am not a member but, Tomball is a members only range and there is a several year waiting list to get into the club. Basically, I think they have a fixed number of members and one has to move away or something to create an opening. The only time the range is open is when they are hosting a match. Jackie is about the only member that regularly posts here and I think he is away at a match. If this is not exactly correct maybe he will post more info later.

Thanks Joe, That would explain why they dont post a phone number. Thanks again.

There are several ranges in the Houston area. I know one of them hosted a big USPSA/IPSC match, The Space City Challange, not to long ago.

Don't make that call

Dear Berkejl, There is another more sinister reason that the Tomball Gun Club telephone number is unlisted. This is because of the membership's background. Besides the usual eclectic mix of club shooters the rest of the club membership consists of benchrest shooters who all, and I mean all, have skeletons in their closet some approaching Tyrannosaurus rex in size. Say you had a giant scale that weighs BS. On one side of the scale you put politicians, televangelists, bureaucrats, you name the group. On the other put the Tomball benchrest crowd and the BR side will plummet like Willie E. Coyote running off a cliff holding an anvil. It is whispered in hell that even Satan makes the sign of the cross when Jackie Schmidt's name is brought up. That is the type of person that haunts this location. Just keep on driving and forget that you ever saw this place. It is for your own good. Tim

WOW Tim

How does this Steven King movie end? Does the Plymouth run over the dog as it comes charging out of the fog shrouded corn field? That certainly is a cast of "characters"!

And with "Howl-o-ween" almost upon us!

The Tomball Gun Club is a closed membership club. We just increased the number to 275, and there is still a waiting list.

The only way you can shoot there is to be a guest of a member.

Having a membership in the Tomball Gun Club is worth it's weight in great bullets. I will contact our secretary, Fancis Hirsh, and see about getting you a membership application........jackie

Sir, unless you are a "Benchrest" shooter do not bother to join Tomball as they are totally hostile to all other diciplines. Yes they have a pistol event that is neither Bullseye nor tacticle. I am a member there until I can get into Bayou or Pearland.

I know this is an old thread.
Is there any way to come and watch a match? I am interested in getting into competitive Benchrest shooting. I would like to come see with my own eye and observe the shooters and the equipment, gear, and the rifles shooters are using. I am in Cypress, TX and I have not found a range that holds matches for short range Benchrest. I would appreciate any input.

There just happens to be a Benchrest Club Match this Sunday, March 7, (Varmint for Score). You are certainly welcome to come, watch, or shoot. It is open to the public. Entry is $15.

There are three classes, Factory, Modified, and Benchrest. If you have a Rifle, you will be able to shoot in one of those three.

Unfortunately, I will not be there. We have the NBRSA Registered Louisiana State Varmint for Score this Sunday in Lake Charles.

Wow, That was a fast response. Thank you.
Is there a schedule of future matches, unfortunately I did not see your response until tonight (night before). I would absolutely love to just see as a spectator during a first time visit.
Once again, thank you for the reply so fast.
