Tighten up loose primer pockets

Roy the web site is owned by a holding company or at least was.
Its a ploy to get someone's interest and maybe buy the site.
Its "Domains by proxy".
I was looking for a website name for another guy recently and was referred to them. Their auto reply was that their sites normally start at 5 figures, if you are still interested contact a specific email address.
Notice they only have 2 posts to their name.

Think possibly the way to shrink a primer pocket, is through the extractor groove. Randy
Well, if it's tall enough

Think it through guys. The primer pocket doesn't just expand with the case head staying the same size. The case head grows, which is what causes the primer pocket to grow, aka "loosen." The tool in post #1 looks like what it does is to raise a burr, so the primer doesn't fall out.

The tools I'm thinking of resize the case head, and in the process, shrink the primer pocket. Just like resizing the neck to hold in the bullet. By the way, there is a picture in the link Al provided -- on page 2. And the item in the link Al provided is yet a different tool than Jeff Rogers made.

It's a choice. If you resize the case head, you'll likely have to do that with every firing or so. If you raise a burr, it will wear away, and in any case, not address the problem that not much primer is supported, so new high-pressure loads may cause some less than fun issues.

Were it me, I'd buy new brass. If that's hard to come by, I'd resize the case head. YYMV.

What I see, is a way to swage down the extractor groove there by shrinking the primer pocket, the small rod is inserted in the pocket to keep from squeezeing it to small. But you are correct on it being a tempory fix and must be used in your brass prep afterwards on each reloading probaly. Randy

Charles, I think you lay the unit on it's side and bang it.

1/4 turn and bang again.

And yes, I agree with Rewinder that the pin is there to keep the hole from getting too small.

That all said, I wouldn't buy the tool. I've got ".473 casehead" chambers in at least 7 diameters....that's a lot of tools.

About 2-3 years ago there was an article in PS about how a guy made a case head resizer. For the 6ppc he took a 22-250 Lee FL sizer. Found the diamerter where he wanted to size to with pin gages. Cut it off a bit further up and then honed it out to what he wanted. Then turned an aluminum push rod to push the case all the way thru from the bottom of the cut off die. Thought I could put my hands right on it but could not find it. I am sure some of you remember it. It was at the tail end of a different article. I would expect the cost to be under $50.

I think the best tool for fixing primer pockets that have grown is called a trash can. Put them in there then go get new cases. The trash can lasts forever, new brass doesn't.

Finally a reasonable answer!
