I have always held fast to one basic tenent in Benchrest. When it is all said and done, this game comes down to Barrels, Bullets, and Tune. If any one of these three is not up to standard that the Discipline demands,, the entire combination will suffer.

I am about to make a statement that might take some aback. But I think it stands true. That is, the very best Custom Benchrest bullet being manufactured at this time just might be the BIB 112-118 grn Varmint for Score Bullet. Untill you actually shoot them, you will not realize just how good they are.

Randy obviously knows how to make a great bullet, and he obviously has a set of dies that produces what ever it is that makes a bullet shoot so well at 100-200 yards. We all know who has the hot 6mm dies at this time, just look at the match reports and see what is consistantly on top. For those of us who shoot both 6mm and 30 cal, we tend to get a feel for what is going on.

The simple fact is that if I go to the range on any given week end, and have both my 6mm and my 30 cal with me, I am much more likely to shoot extremely small groups with the 30. I have been saying this for the past couple of years, and I honestly believe that the key ingrediant to this whole combination is the phenominol BIB 30 caliber bullet.

There is no doubt that more and more shooters are going to start shooting 30's. Especially after the NBRSA institutes Varmint for Score as a permanent Registered Format. Benchrest is permiated by what we call "One Rifle Shooters", those shooters who build a 6PPC Sporter and compete in all classes. With Varmint for Score coming in, many shooters might just decide that yes, they can still be a one Rifle Shooter, but that one Rifle will be a 30 caliber Sporter, for both Group and Score.

This will open up all sorts of new avenues for not only Shooters, but the manufacturers as well, The manufacturers who furnish all of the components for Benchrest will have the opportunity to expand into an entire new "cottage industry", based on the 30, just as it is now based on the 6PPC.

I believe this is a good thing.

And once again, thanks Randy, for your dedication in making available such a fine bullet so that the potential of the 30 Cal can be fullfilled. And by the way, I have enough 112's to finish out this shooting season, but I have already told my Wife that a great Christmas present this year would be 5000 or 10,000 BIB's.:D...........jackie

Now is the time for the guys that order at the last minute to cry about the hoarders.

Waugh!

Problem is, Randy can't always get enough jackets. (I guess Berger hoards them?)

Seriously, as a small, sole proprietor, how would you like to tie up your money with two years worth of inventory, because jackets may not be available?

Once again congratulations Jackie !

I have one very small comment to make about your statement, why on earth do you call them Varmint For Score Bullets ? I think you proved last weekend they are good for more than just that application.

With all due respect:

I will agree, Randy's bullets are as good as they get. I have shot a lot of em over the years and have a couple thou in stock. I prefer the 7's but lots of folks like the 10's.

That said, I have found that most bullets shoot just fine as long as one knows what they are dealing with. Lots of matches and records have been won and set with Eubers, Bergers, Fowlwers, Cheeks, 10X etc, etc. Allie has set a few records and a couple of times, darn near others with his bullets; most recently at the Bud.

So, don't stress over Randy not being able to provide bullets for the world. He can't possibly make all the bullets this post will probably generate. If any are interested in how to make most of them shoot, PM me or send an email.

And, something new coming to us. I believe when jackets are available again we will be able to get some BT light 30 cal bullets. This may be something that will provide even more accuracy for the Deer Rifles.
