At the range today, a case broke completely at the shoulder-neck junction. Neck remained in the chamber. I tried to push it out with a 30 cal. bronze brush inserted from the muzzle, but no luck.
Anyone have an idea how to get it out? I have the barrel off right now and can see it. Tried again with the same method, and it is tight. Help!!

I have read that the way that you are supposed to use a bronze brush for this is to insert it from the chamber end, just as far as the front of the neck (or slightly farther, but not by much) , and then pull back with some force. This will jam the bristles in the neck and pull it out of the chamber.

Push a patch about a 1/4 past the end of the case and then pour in some Cerrosafe and it will come right out. Our single shot cast bullet guns with some cases injure separated cases on a pretty regular bases. A litte butane torch, a chunk of Cerrosafe, a small ladle and funnel are part of the shooting kit. They always seem to separate at the worst possible time and one can be back up running if about 5 minutes.

Thanks Boyd; that did it. I used a .338 brush per your instructions.

Often what causes necks to break off is there being no slop in one's neck bushing. A thin o-ring places under the stem cap will stop the breakage
