Honestly, this is a search for anyone who would know how my rifle came to be. It had to be a Winchester custom (i.e., built in the custom shop) because the barrel seems to have been a one of a kind. It is a Win 52C with a serial that puts it at 1960 for a production date. The peculiarity is that the barrel is cylindrical, the same diameter for its entire length and the same diameter as the receiver. Barrel had all the usual Winchester barrel stampings and proof marks but was this LARGE diameter and was polished to the same level as the receiver. The barrel had an extension about 6inches long that was very thick walled. (barrel diameter a bit more than 1.25" and the hole in the end of the extension was about .625")
I have owned the rifle for 35years but only realized it's uniqueness in the last 10. It went through a few owners here in our local (F'burg, TX) competition (which the rifle has won several times) but these previous owners can't remember the origins of the gun. Whoever ordered this barrel was a serious shooter and I'm sure would remember the rifle.
This is the replacement barrel built to the same specs but not polished like the original, nor marked. never mind the little rifle....
