I have a nice used 6PPC BR rifle with Stolle Panda LB LP action,McMillian stock,Jewell trigger,Douglas barrel,Kelbly rings, glued in. What would a rifle set up like this sell for usually? Bore and throat looks good
will have some effect on the value. If its shot out it will be 5-6 hundred to replace it. My first ever BR rifle had a shot out 6ppc barrel. I learned the hard way to be careful with used rifles!
Even if the barrel is like-new a lot of folks will replace it for competition. Douglas makes a good blank but they're rarely (if ever) seen at matches anymore.
Forget the barrel, and I am not saying this because it is a somebody's barrel, it would not matter who's barrel it was. The rifle will sell on it's own capabilities, You just have to find a person that wants that combo.
I agree Bill that it's usually preferable to scrap someone else's barrel. Then again, sometimes you get a really good one. My dad purchased Col. Maurice Kaiser's 1,000 yard rig in the late 80's (30-350 Rem with the belt turned off). Plan #1 was to re-tube it since it had seen beaucoup competition in the 1970's (it came with the reamer and dies). Then we took it to the range and that old Hart sung. It's still on the gun and continues to perform. I guess my only point is send a few down range before yanking the barrel. It may surprise you.
Additionally I can tell you the pool of potential buyers for Left Bolt actions is smaller since their are less of us lefties around. This tends to negatively impact the rifle's value.
