Starting over with 6x284

Today shooting in Hot NV desert . Starting load of 49grs of Re#22 behind Hornady 105 HPBT seating 20/1000 off the lands produced 3200 FPS 51.5 grs of Re#22 same bullet produced 3375 average velocity, and starting getting shinny ejector mark,so not wanting to ruin any new Lapua brass I stopped. All loads produced very poor accuracy. Now I'm thinking either start Burning Re#25 same bullet but also seating closer to lands or trying Berger 105 Hybrids and seating them also closer to lands with Re#25 . 30" Brux bbl 8" twist . If 51.5grs of Re#22 was a max charge what would be a starting load with Re#25 ?

Every 6-284 ive ever seen burned the barrel out before a good load was found then if you do stumble upon one you wouldnt know it.

Poor accuracy

Change bullets immediately!

I had a 6/284 that we hunted in N. Nevada with. I used IMR 4831 with the 85g Sierra in a 10 twist, very accurate, at 3600 fps. All we had back then was Win brass. 500 was as far as we ever shot, and that was rare.

Re#25 and the 6x284

I was burning 51.5 of Re#22 in 30" Brux bbl 8" twist Hornady 105 BTHP produced an average MV 3350 with poor accuracy and pressure signs. . This time I switched to Re#25 and Berger 105 Hybrids seated out to touching lands. Fired 4 shot groups starting at 51.5 -53.0
1st group(51.5) shot well under 3/4MOA at a 100 and average MV of3375 Zero pressure signs
2nd group(52.0) shot a 1/4 MOA !!!!!! and average 3400 I was very happy. Zero pressure signs
3rd group (52.5) group opened up to 3/4 MOA and average velocity 3440 and slight flattening and cratering of primer.
4th group ( 53.0) produced an average MV of 3485 ranging from 3470-3525 but group was under 1/2 MOA . But had shinning Ejector marks which means stop and reduce load. .
So I'm back in the thumbs up camp for 6x284 . My new load will be 52grs of Re#25

Time

Didn't have a lot of time ,just wanted to get a peek at Re#25s performance . I eventually want to try Retumbo .

6mm/284

I shoot an 8 twist barrel, and have found 105 Bergers to shoot well with H-4831SC and IMR 7828.
Since you are shooting a 10 twist I would try the Barnes 85gr Tipped Tripple Shock and the 90 gr Swift Scirocco.
