If possible, keep both eyes open. Most BR shooters keep the second eye on the flags. I realize that some cannot shoot with both eyes open. For those it may be advantageous to use a "heads up" style of shooting. This style involves getting one's rifle on the point of aim and watching the flags with the head up. When the conditions are right, then he will press the trigger. Good shooting...James
I shoot with both eyes open. I watch my wind flags with my non-scope eye plus the muscles in the eye I'm trying to keep closed gets tired and starts twitching.
I shoot with both open but my left eye doesn't register much without a constant effort for it to do so. I asked my eye doctor if one could train their eyes to have Binocular Vision. He said " If you had started when you were about 5 then maybe but probably not".
Heads up is a good way to shoot but I don't trust my setup to hold; paranoid I guess.
For this game, I am somewhat fortunate. Hand eye co-ordination is greatest with my right eye, however anything beyond
3 ft is better seen with my left eye, so flags are easy to watch shooting right handed. This sounds good, but is not without
issues. Works best in a left to right condition, but seeing an approaching let=up from the other side will fool me every time.
There is no best way. One eye or both eyes open is a choice that each shooter will make depending on individual vision. My eyes have gotten old. I now have the occasional floater.(Weird shaped images that sometimes blur my vision just when I get ready to pull the trigger. I have to close(Blink) my eyes to get rid of the floater that's blocking the view of my flags. It's extremely frustrating sometimes and it comes with age. My suggestion is to do what works best for you. We all see the World differently.
