Sent a nice letter to Kimber about how much I enjoyed living with My 84m 308 for 2 years. Am still waiting for My free C:mad:ap and Tshirt but no luck yet.

They're not used to letters complimenting their products ;). Maybe they'll send your cap and shirt after they get over the shock! My 84m 7-08 is a wonder gun, it has shot 2" groups at 100 yds on the rare occasion, most groups are cabbage size.

Skim bed over factory bedding. It worked on a 7-08 84m I fought with.

Done, along with a re-crown, pillars relieved where they were binding on the action screws due to being misaligned, barrel free floated, forend was touching one side, magazine had to be filed down as it was bound causing the floorplate not to close unless action screws were left loose, when you tighten the action screws it would cause the bottom metal to bend and the floorplate wouldn't latch. It was shipped with the action screws left loose. Not much else to do but rebarrel, when you push a cleaning rod through it you can feel tight and loose spots as it passes through the bore. Kimber's no help, they do not honor their warranty in Canada. Other than that it's a great rifle.

Marc, don't bet on a rebarrel fixing it either. The one I played with was sent back by the customer and rebarreled twice before I rebedded it.

Yours has many of the same problems as that one. Won't shoot, pillar crooked, pillars too high, front action screw too long and bottoming out, etc.

That one rifle turned me against Kimber forever. I will never own one. You only get one chance to leave an impression.

I will never own another. Two years ago, I bought a Model 84, .308. One pillar not at 90 degrees, burr in bore, firing pin would not always detonate primer, etc., etc. It has been returned to Kimber twice. Most of the above problems eliminated, but I still get 2" three shot groups and fouling is terrible. I am looking at a Cooper.

To 10 Ring

Coopers are great rifles but if You dont want to spend that much money, try a CZ. When I got rid of my Kimber I got a CZ550 American in 308 for the price of the trade in,it needed a trigger and bedding job but a few days ago I shot 4 3shot groups with 4 different bullet weights all under 1/2". The best group went .25" and the worst .44". Rifle does not like 180grain bullets as it has a 1 in 13 twist but loves 165g Sierra hollow points often shooting them into .3" or better 3shot groups at 100yds. Good luck Murphy.

kimber 84 in 300 winchester

My new kimber shoots as well as an old 40xb 300 win I have. They are not ppc's but I don't think they were ment to be. I cna shoot consistent 4/10th with an ocassional 3 mixed in. Maybe I'm just easy to please.

To Dave B.

How much does Your rifle weigh? If ifs the 5 1/2 lb model thats a very good result for 300 winchester magnum.

I must of misread

Mine is definarely not the 5 or 6 lb model. Mine looks more like a remington varmiter.

Kimbers

Hey Marc.
Does not sound encouraging that Kimber on our side of the border does not honor warrranty. I've been considering a 22 Hunter Silhouette; used but like new. Hoping that there are no problems with it. Have an older KoO and it is just the best. Thought the centerfire VST would be neat, but not so sure now.

Steelringer, I should qualify my statement in that Kimber will honor their warranty, hitch is they have to be returned to the U.S., what with the paperwork, import/export regulations on each side of the border for the trips each way, permits, border brokers, costs and time. Could be a long, long time before you see it again.

Got To Throw 2 Cents In....

One of my friends just picked up a Kimber Montana in 308. Honestly, it is the first factory rifle I have been impressed with in 20 years!

I shot it in early May, and its performance was well above any factory rifle I have shot.

So much so, that I am looking at buying one in 260 or 338 Fed.

I have shot and looked at the Coopers, ended up saying "nice, but not worth the money?

Sorry to hear you guys are having trouble.
