Scope, rings and base for Savage 22-250 12FV

A friend of mine just purchased a Savage 12 FV in 22-250 for varmint shooting I would appreciate your recommendation as to the scope, rings and base for him to use. If any of you have this rifle, I would appreciate the benefit of your advice and comments. Thanks for your consideration of my post.

My personal preference is some type of weaver style bases. I like Warne Maxima's. Burris Signature Zee rings are hard to beat as they can compensate for Savage's tendency to have holes drilled out of line and sometimes crooked barrels.
The scope will depend on what the shooter's purpose might be. Also, it will depend on how much he chooses to spend and whether he wants new or used. I like to buy used scopes with lifetime warranties, but then I'm pretty cheap. If he buys new he should probably expect spend as much on the glass as he does on the rifle or thereabouts. My Savages that I use for prairie dogs have 6x24 & 8x32 Bushnell 4200's. He can expect to pay $3-400 for these used.
