I have a couple of Leupolds That I think I would like to get boosted Have any of Yall Had this done? Is it worth it? What is the price range & who does it.

Oldered vs newer

When boosting the older 36X Leupold, you will lose light (Brightness) The larger objective Competitions scopes are a better choice, as they are available in 40X & 45X.

Gene Davis Optical Booster

You might like to try the GDOB as it just screws on to the scope.
Run a search on his optical booster and see if he has one for your scope :).

Works

Yes it works very well except it increases the lenght of the scope and may reduce eye relief.

I had this problem with my Premier Boosted Leupolds, I had to go with a longer picatinny rail to set the scope forward.

The Gene Davis boosters are nice if your eyes can handle the them, I'm limited to a 3x screw in on one Leupold and a slide on 4x for a NF.

The Gene Davis booster does not always work well. I bought a 3x, attached it to eyepiece on my Weaver 36X and Leupold 36X. With both scopes, it was fine out to 200 yds. - beyond that the image was very fuzzy and I could not read scoring rings. My buddy at the range tried it with same result. I returned it to Gene, and he made full refund. He is a good guy. Try it and if you don't like it, ask for a refund.

I recently fitted a 4x screw in to my Leupold VX III 8.5-25, but first I had an extended email correspondence with both Gene & the folks at the web site marketing the equipment. It took quite a time before they agreed that I would have enough eyepiece adjustment to ensure that I would be able to precisely focus the crosshairs.

Once fitted (I j-u-s-t was able to get clear crosshairs), I've used the sight reliably & successfully at 1000-1200 yards as I intended & the boost, to 35x I guess, is clear & without distracting distortion or loss of acuity.

You are right on. "Try it if you don't like it" Gene will take it back with a full refund. He is a heck of a guy. My son bought one and it did not do what he was looking for. I tried it on my 24X Lupy and 36x Weaver, the clairty was ok but I had trouble adjusting the parallax. I think one of the screw on models would be better. We are still experimenting with it.
