I see leupolds mentioned regularly plus others. I never seem to see Refields mentioned. I understand they haven't been produced for some time. My question is one of when Redfield scopes were made in Denver.

How do the old Redfield 2x7 and 3x9 scopes compare (lens, clarity, reliability)to the new scopes that cost in the $150 to $250 range?

The old redfields that i have used were top notch, but @ the time i was not into benching my rifles,i was deer hunting but they were great,i use leupold now shot after shot they are no misses.....:D

The older Denver made Illuminators were decent scopes, but multi-coating technology today is much better that when they were made. The Jap. made Illuminators are a very good scope by today's standards. I have 2 of them and I would put them on par with the 4200's. They are that good and sometimes you can find them on ebay pretty cheap.
