Hi guys, I am trying to decied on a 6 BR rifle from savage. Its either the Savage 12 F class precision target rifle that has a 1:8 twist extra heavy free floating 30 inch barrel or the Savage 12 Long range Precision varminter rifle that has a 1:12 twist and a Extra heavy free floating 26 inch barrel. My goal it i want the best choice for shooting long distances like 800 to 1000 yards. And i need to decide on the best bullet for that range.

Thanks

Do some reading on 6mmbr.com The 12 twist won't do the deed at that distance since it is limited to light weight bullets, but may be more accurate at shorter distances. The 107 SMK should work out of the 8 twist..........if that rifle likes them.

fast twist and longer barrel needed

+1 on previous post. You need the faster twist and the longer barrel for that extra 100 fps to go out to a 1000 yds. If you prefer the H&S style stock on the LRPV, then buy a prefit barrel from a number of vendors (Shilen, PacNor, McGowen, LW) in whatever length you want for less than $350. The only person I know that has one of the FClass 6BRs says it is throated too long for his taste. Its a factory barrel. Shorter throats don't exist anymore on factory barrel.

luck with your savage, tiny
