S.E. Ohio 600 Yard Shoot Results, Saturday, July 3, 2010

I believe this may have been the largest turnout we have had. There were 22 different shooters with a couple doubling up on matches 1 and 2. Conditions were much better than our first three dates with not much visible wind. However, there must have been something going on between the benches and targets as there were not as many really small groups shot as anticipated nor were there any 50 scores shot. But all shooters seemed to have a good timeand we had ten different winners over the three matches shot. Also, congratulations to Nick Brown for his screamer group in match 1 measuring 1.200 inches. Our next shoot is scheduled for Saturday, August 7, 2010

What does CTX stand for?

CTX stands for "Closest to X", or closest to the center.

How do you determine who gets "1st Score" when two shooters each shot a 49? Smallest group?

If a shooter has the smallest group and highest score, they win 1st group only. If a shooter has the highest score and second smallest group they win 1st score only. If two shooters tie with highest score the one with the smallest group will win 1st score. These are money matches and we pay out 75% of the match fees collected. As you can see from the results of the July 3rd shoot there are 5 chances to win on each match; 1st and 2nd group, 1st and 2nd score, and closest to the center of the target (CTX). Group and score winners are also eligible to win closest to center, so there will be 4 to five winners each match. We charge $12 to shoot each match with $2 going to the owner of the range, $1 for the target with the remaining $9 paid out to the match winners. We generally shoot three matches at each shoot.

The range is located at 9736 St. Route 141, Gallipolis, OH 45631 (10 Miles West of Gallipolis, Ohio on State Route 141)

What is the GWI in 6.5x55 GWI? Improved in any way I assume?

Why wouldn't that shooter also win 1st score?

The 6.5x55 GWI is a redesign of the 6.5x55 Swede caliber. The GW stands for the name of the individual who re-designed the case and the I stands for improved.

The shooter who wins 1st Group cannot also win 1st or 2nd Score in the same match because that is what we decided on when we began holding the 600 Yd shoots. Several of us shoot IBS 1000 yard matches, so we pretty much follow their practices in this area.
