rotating scope

I am in a position where I have to rotate my scope to the left so that the elevation adjustment knob is on the left and the windage knob is on the top. This to avoid ejected rounds from hitting the turrent. The scope, my beater, is a Sightron Variable with target turrents. It is mounted on a Rem 788 heavy bbl.in 223 AI. I'm wondering if the scope can be damaged in any way particularly by recoil. I'm thinking specifically of the erector tube springs. The gun is in the experimental stages and I haven't decided just how I want to scope it, so I don't want to buy another one just yet. (yes, a body can have too many damn scopes) Does anyone know if the above mentioned configuration will hurt anything. It's only for a hundred rounds or so. I guess I could call Ackerman and ask him. Just hate to bother someone in the middle of a work day for free advice. Thanks

That's the way I always mounted my scopes for the past 20 years. Works like a charm and makes more sense. Now, with the side focus scopes I can't do it but if I could, I would.
