Riverbend's first group match of the year was last Saturday. The temperature was ok early in the morning but it appeared to cool off all day. The wind was vicious ALL day. Switchy, let ups, gusts, etc.

There were a couple of +2" groups fired at 200 and everybody had at least one group over an inch. Match director Jim Andress managed a .356 in the only lull of the day to take small group for the 200 yd portion. He also had the next smallest group which was a .500. He kept his disasters to a minimum to win the 200 yd segment.

We then moved the frames to 100 yds. The temp was going down and more coats were being put on. It threatened rain all afternoon but we didn't really have any. The wind got worse if that is possible. Bill Dittman shot an amazing .126 on the third target. Yours truly had a .149 on target #1 {shooting my Metal Mayhem 30BR }and Dave Rabin had a .193 also on target #1 and this is also the order of finish at 100 yds.

Wayne Hunt was the only production class shooter with one of the Savage Target rifles. He struggled at 200 but at 100 he shot a .3010 on the first target which was 3rd best on that target. He then fired a .277 on the second target which was 2nd.

I was thinking of coming up for the match but I read the weather report. Look at what the winds down here did in "protected waters" on Saturday. We had steady winds at 30 with gusts to 50.

This was the bay, not the Gulf.

I think most of us equate shooting in those conditions with other fun things, like root canals.

Root canals, you must go to the wrong dentist.
The dentist I go to, when I have a plethora of expendable cash, has a vanity tag on his Mercedes that says "Painless". He is!
Had two root canals done at the same time, was in and out in less than 45 minutes, and had zero pain before, during or after. Amazing!
Never even felt the needle.
That guy is good!

OK, I'll revise my last statement to: "I think most of us equate shooting in those conditions with other fun things, like paying large amounts of money to dentists."

I have never had pain during a couple of root canals (except in the wallet) either. Dentist told me its only when the tooth is already hurting you that the root canal hurts.
