Rimfire barrel

I'm in the middle of building a nice rimfire for bench shooting and need to order a barrel. I plan on shooting standard velocity 40 gr long rifle along with Eley ammo. I would appreciate everybody's thoughts on twist rate and number of groves.

Thanks

I have a Broughton 4c 16.5 twist (not sure if that makes any difference) and it's shooting very well with Eley (and pretty good with R50)

Also have a Shilen Octagon, not tried that yet so can't say, but I think the Broughton 4c or 5c is a safe bet.

1-16 if it gets cold 1-17 if not.
Grooves - they all work.
Search the word Barrel
lots of opinions in here and you know what they say about opinions.
This is not a very friendly forum for new guys - it's just the way it is.
Almost like trap shooters

Thanks for the replies. I think I will go with a 16 twist 4 grove. 4 grove because it is easier to indicate in the lathe.

I agree with what you say about opinions. Put four of us old hard of hearing guys together and you will have six opinions.
