Rifle balance

How do you decide where to set your rifle with respect to the front rest. IOW, what balance point do you chose, and why? For clarification, I'm using a Panda action, and a Shehane long range Tracker (Ft1000) stock, but a (relatively), short range, barrel. 30 BR, to be precise. Don't ask how I ended up with it, but it's what I have.

We would need to know the total rifle weight, barrel contour and length, weight distribution between butt and foreend.

But, in general, the rifle doesn't need to sit any further back on the front rest than is necessary for full recoil without coming off the rest.
