reticle for 100 200 group shooting

With the majority ... who knows? Probably 6 of one and a half dozen of the other. With the Dot I'd always be guessing where the crosshairs cross [if that makes any sense] ... so I just go with the Crosshairs. :)

Dot or crosshair is purely a matter of personal taste as has been stated the last 10 or more times this question was asked here.

In my brief stint with a crosshair reticle on a BR scope I found myself aiming more and trying to acquire the center whereas my eye catches the dot quicker and I can confirm my POA faster.
I did feel as though I could aim more precisely, however, so who knows....personal preference, six of one, potatoe/potaaahtoe.
What I have done is order a scope with a dot, and if I find myself yearning for a crosshair I will sell/trade mine for what I am looking for.
Best of luck,
Mike

I think it is mostly personal preference. Kind of like jocky or boxers. What ever you are most comfortable with. At first I think I liked the dot but now I prefer the cross hair. Seems to give me a more precise aim point. I rebuilt the reticle in one of my Weaver T36 scopes. I don't know what the factory uses but it is super fine. I would guess about .0001 diameter whatever. The finest thing I could find was a single filament of kevlar. As near as I could tell it miked at .0002. It now appears to be a bit larger but not too large, in fact just right. Had I thought of it at the time, I would have done an offset reticle like Dusty said. If I get totally bored this winter I may tear into that scope again and offset the reticle. Thanks for the idea Dusty.

Dot those eyes and cross those T's

I have tried both the fine cross hairs 1/8 minute dots and 1/16 minute dots. I prefer the 1/8 minute dots. They are faster to pick up especially in poor lighting conditions. I also prefer the 40X scopes. For younger eyes the higher power scopes and finer cross hair or 1/16 minute dot may work just as well. The higher power scopes do allow you to see mirage better and this can be a mixed blessing. I have no experience with the high cross hair/dot reticule but it will let you see your flags in the scope especially at 200 yards if this is your style of shooting. If you can try different reticules prior to purchase this would be best because as the many fine shooters have said on this thread it is personal preference. Tony's new book coming out in January may address this issue. Tim

Now to add to the mix March now has a 3/32nd dot. I think this will be very popular as the 1/16th is too small and the 1/8th is too big.
