Despite a really dreary, rainy day, we had a good turnout for our final Club Match at Tomball, 29 brave souls came out to slosh around in the gravel and red mud.

And, of course, to shoot some great scores.

The results:

Factory Class:
Hunter Pullig........245 8X (won on tie breaker)
Russell Mathews....245 8X
Buddy Pullig..........243 7X

Modified Class:
Carl Easton..........248 13X
Scott Deal...........247 7X

Benchrest Class:
Vic Smith............250 22X (won tie breaker)
Ed Bernabeo........250 22X
Ken Starr............250 21X (won tie breaker)
Eddie Carter........250 21X
Geramo Villareal....250 20X

Tomball Gun Club Club Match Shooter of the Year, (based on best 3 out of 4 Matches:
Nick Marino........750 62X

We also had a special award to the Factory Class Shooter of the Year, which was a $50 gift certificate to Cabellos, Donated by Joe Duke. The winner was:
Paul Dermody.......713 14X

As in every Benchrest Match, there are always a few personal 'first'. Today, we had a shooter, Wes Johnson, drive down from Dallas, and he was rewarded with his first 50 5X target, and his first "clean score", a fine 250 18X.

That concludes our Club Match schedule for 2009. We had an average 34 shooters for each match, and I believe everybody enjoyed them selves. The Tomball Gun Club is making a profound effort in promoting Benchrest in the Gulf Coast Area. I hope for more success, and fun, next year...........jackie

I plan on being there, although I have not shot a score match all year, as I have my hands full running our Club Matches.

Ken Starr has been shooting my 30BR Rifle. Pretty well, I might add.

Congratulations to all the winners.
I’d also like to congratulate my friend Wes. That’s some good shooting considering you shot that gun for the first time only a week ago. Looks like you’re more than ready for the I.B.S shoot next week.

I’m glad to hear your coming Jackie, it’s been far too long since we’ve seen you..

Jackie,
Those are great participation numbers. Riverbend is within easy driving distance of the 5M Atlanta residents and we are doing good to have 15 shooters at our monthly club matches and 4 or 5 of them drive quite aways to shoot with us.

Congratulations ! Were you shooting your 30PPC ??? :)

Yes I finally won a match with it. I found a combination the rifle likes and its performed quite well over the last two club matches 23x and 22x....

I would like to thank Jackie, Gary, and Ken for their efforts putting on the matches at Tomball.....

I also would like to congratulate my buddy Nick Marino for winning the Shooter Of The Year Award......

Thanks Jackie,
That means a lot coming from some one with your skins on the wall.

Thanks Jon,
I guess that 30br really like those 116's your making. Guess I better get some more while I can. I really want to thank you for helping me get that thing set up last week. Apparently I was listening to some of the things you said. :D

That's a significant number of Xs. How did Gary's new 30BR perform ??? :)

Thanks Jackie

We have all had a great time at the matches this year. It is good to have a place to shoot and the competition at Tomball is truly tough for no longer than the matches have been going on. All the classes are competitive.

Nick, Congratulations on your SOY win. You deserved it!

See you all at Denton this weekend.

The 30BR performed well, but the shooter made a screw-up and adjusted the scope the wrong way in match 2. Still have to learn how to steer it better as well.

I still had a good time though!

30BR's

Actually, I think there were three new 30 BR's on their first outing. Wes had a real nice day with his as well as did Gary. I had mine pretty badly out of tune and struggled to stay in the ten ring the first couple of targets. But after getting it adjusted, I shot two 50-5x's and a 50-3x to finish the match with 250-16 x's.
The 30 BR's are sure fun to shoot. We are going to chase the guys in front just as hard as we know how.
