Replacement trigger for savage rifle

Savage Centerfire Triggers

I would like to know what trigger to buy and where for a drop in application for a model 111.
I have a couple of the SAV-2 triggers, they seem to do the job pretty well. You can find them in a number of different places.

I've got a couple Sharp Shooter Supply triggers on Savage's and they work well.

Sss - +1

+1 on the SSS. I have two of them. Replaced a light-weight AccuTrigger with the SSS. I am not a huge AccuTrigger fan. The SSS is easy to install and adjust. My will not fit the advertized 6 oz, but 10 oz was no problem.

Never tried the others.

Can a pulled Accutrigger be installed and used on an older model?

Accutrigger on older action

I don't think so. I know you can't directly put an AccuTrigger on the new Stevens. My understanding is that the AccuTrigger requires a couple of more cuts on the action that aren't required for the non-AccuTrigger (both Savage and Stevens) actions.

Could be wrong, but I am pretty sure of that.

Tony C,

You wouldn't want to, the accutrigger is nothing more than the original trigger with a dangerous lack of sear engagement for a factory trigger and a safety catch to stop the disaster. The trigger return/tension spring is in a different location to make it better. If you look at an accutrigger, you will find the trigger's sear mating surface has an angled relief cut that reduces the amount of engagement. Older original triggers had a screw to adjust this.

The thing with the accutrigger is Savage was the first to come out with a trigger that can be set very low. Rem now makes the XMarkPro (or something to that effect), Marlin, bought out by Remington, makes a clone of the Savage and it also has that trigger.

The accutrigger is great for the average joe but not for most guys here. The Rifle Basix Sav2 trigger is good, but IMO and others, the safety should NOT be used if the trigger is set low. It WILL fire when the safety is moved off under the right circumstances.

Sharp shooter supply, a member here, makes a great trigger for the savage. I need to get a couple more of them actually, thanks for the reminder.

I'd go with the SharpShooterSupply trigger, got 6-7 myself and one of the new 2 oz jobs and love them all, never got anything from fred that wasn't A-1,,,,,,,,, price is good, installation is easy, directions good and clear, easy to follow,,,,,,,,,,,

I completely agree with Rob, the accutrigger is junk. My son has one on his F/TR rifle and he's always screwing with it. If you jar the rifle (even using soft pressure to close the bolt) the trigger fails to engage. I've heard a few folks say that when the triggers are turned down to 1lb and under, you need to keep the rifle absolutely still so the safety device doesn't engage.
That's impossible even when shooting F-Class. My son's trigger may be worse than some but he absolutely hates it.
