For those of you who remember me posting as I built it; I finished it right before the snows and now I am up and running. I have 48" x 48" plates at 200, 300, 400, 500, and 750; and at 100 I welded up some cool plates that swing around when hit. The three Remmy 700's (a pair of 700 Police and a 700 Extreme Tactical) are dialed in and good to go.

I say if you can shoot off a picnic table you can shoot off anything. I like your fun set up. Lunch on one end shoot off the other.

I envy your range! It would be so much fun to have a range like this for my friends and family.

We don't have green grass out here in my area.

If you ever want a great bench, you can build one but that setting is perfect.

I just dialed in the 20" fluted at 200 and then was where I wanted on the plates at 400 and 500. I'm kind of digging this Springfield Armory - I wonder why they stopped making these scopes?

We moved back to NY and onto the farm about 5 years ago and did the range last year. I haven't made any friends yet that enjoy shooting; so sadly I don't shoot as much as I would if I had a buddy that wanted to come shooting with me. My wife will come keep me company every blue moon; but that's about it.

I think we all deserve to do what makes us happy! For me, it's simply a Coleman Lead Sled and my picnic table. And once I get some new outdoor carpet and some burlap bags, I might just lie down when I shoot. This gets me that much closer to a nap attack! ;-)

I shoot off a poorly constructed wooden bench once a month. It gives me the chance to fireform brass since i cant get too serious on it. And shooting 20 shot groups at 2 yardages with a ppc... Its a lot of work to keep 50pcs of brass turned for 2 guns. Oh well dad has fun with it!

Now that sounds like a plan to me. Then since you are in NY an occasional trip to the Finger Lakes. I'm not much of a Catskills/Adirondacks person.

As to naps, I may be the only person who takes naps between relays at the Super Shoot. I set a bench timer for 18 minutes and have at it!!

I'm about 90 miles from the Finger Lakes, give or take. If you went east from Syracuse, I am like half way to Albany more or less.

Don't let the guys mess with you, Ive shoot some pretty good groups off of the picnic tables a the palm beach county range. But a good bench is better. Range looks great I wish I had one out my back door. I don't think I would have to leave the property, as long as Amy Bruno and the Potterfields will still send me bullets and the like. You can shoot at night and don't need to light the whole range, just the target. I used to shoot archery at night but also had to light the line to see through the peep.

I have a Coleman 6,500 watt generator and I pondered schlepping it down to the range and mounting it to the wood floor. But I was thinking it would attract bugs something fierce so I didn't really consider lighting at any of the distances. But I was thinking a nice trap thrower would be epic!

Why not place the generator close to the target and put the light only on the target?

I've finished up matches under lights at the Okie Shooter's range at Luther back in the 80's. They just had lights shining on the target. A little tough to see wind flags and we were always shooting 200 yards at that time of day. But, it works pretty well.

If you ever make it to Syracuse, stop in at Cosmo's on the S.U. campus. My whole family went to school there and Cosmo's has some fine pizza, french fries with gravy, and toasted honey buns with vanilla ice cream.

Worth the trip...
