Railgun barrel length

I know that there's already a thread here, but it has just one answer....

I'm building 3 barrels for my Kenzler rail...... Brand new territory for me. I've never shot nor handled a rail.

Right now I'm going to leave the blanks full length, just whack off the last inch (lapping bell) but I'm guessing there is a "best balance" to equalize loading on the slide assembly?

Anyone care to comment on this?

Got 2 barrels for mine, both 23". In front of a 1.75" 3 lug 2 port Bat....Incase you were interested in knowing that,

Regards
Rick

I don't think there's a "right" answer to your question. The rail top weighs quite a bit and will track (return to battery) if you put any length barrel on it (store bought length) so it comes down to the target. The target always tells the tale....but you already knew that so I reckon I just wasted some of all our time. :)

Have yall seen any difference between a barrel block setup vs conventional? Maybe the block can act as somewhat of a heat sink? But then a rail will already be using such a big barrel heat aint gone be a problem I suppose..
