Rail Gun for testing barreled actions

Bob,
Some time ago I built a rail for Bob Sicina that mounted the action (Rem. foot print) in a Vee block. Screwed in pretty much like it was mounted on pillars. 1 1/4" & 1.350 barrels shot well but nothing really heavy. When Bob passed on he had asked that it be returned to me. I've used it while testing action designs and it has been an excellent test platform. If a couple photos would help send me an email or PM. It is snowed in the "out building" at the moment but spring is coming.

I played with that a little, but never got as far as testing for torque. I stopped because without the heavy barrel, the amount of recoil is tremendous, and I just never pursued it. Do you have some idea to contain this, or are you making a special type of rail?

I tried two bushings 1' long in the barrel block and didnt work. I was going to bed a Panda in a flat plate but never got around to it. Jerrel

I was going to taper the the bore 14 1/2 thousands per inch like on a lv barrel but i could be wrong. Nylon or Nylatron might work. Jerrel

I think the way to go is with a long bushing also. I "m not sure about nylon though. I think the bored taperd bush is the way to go or even a split one that will clamp in the block. Let me know what you think about this and how you make out with yours. mine is sitting in the case waiting to be tried out .

Epoxy an oversize sleeve on the barrel, block length, Turn the OD
cylindrical for the clampblock. It works, I think the vibrations , thus
tune may be different though. Warm it up and take it off.
