question to nationals winners

I have been thinking about the amazing aggs. that were shot at Holton this year. And congratulations to all it is totally amazing what was accomplished. My question is with the introduction of the new Bix and Andy trigger, how many used it and if they felt this contributed to the aggs. shot. I am not knocking Jewell they have been the benchmark for many years. I also understand barrels , bullets, bedding and scope has to work. and it must still be steered correctly. Just something that's been on my mind. George

O.k. then newer I had put one on for a friend awhile back, now IF you have any input as to the original question it would be more helpful....

great question. I have often wondered if it would be worth the extra expense? I know they are nice, I have felt them.
I bet the new jackets are playing a big role as well. lee

I don't know George, but, I dropped the game cold turkey in 2006. I can say at that time I was up to date on everything accuracy related that could be found on the internet along with much shared knowledge by top gunsmiths and component manufacturers. In the last few years I came back online thinking I was going to jump back in where I left off. I received a rude awakening. The most obvious change to me was how much of a deeper understanding people now have of how to tune a rifle and how to load for greater precision. High quality components that are known to provide results are much more widespread. I think there are many more GOOD guns in circulation today and many more people who know how to tune them. FWIW

Agreed way more great guns and great tuners, I just was wondering how many used them and if they think those aggs. could have been shot with a 1 1/2 oz vs a 1/2 ounce. I realize its kind of a trick question woulda coulda shoulda. Just looking for their opinions. I am not asking because I'm looking for a different trigger. I have played with one and they are REAL nice but would they be considered a must have to shoot these aggs...

George that is a really good question.
The rest of the Centerfire Benchrest Group is waiting...........?

I can't tell you how many times I've heard this over the last 36 years as aggs got smaller. It's a learning curve for all involved in the sport. Just an observation. Look at the "time served" by the top shooters, smiths and manufacturers.

I talked to a very knowledgeable person about fire control. He said the Bix and Andy gives more consistent fire control. Matt

What do you mean by " fire control", if your talking ignition I would question that, theres a few more parts involved to get a more consistent pin fall. if you mean fire control as in controlling let off. that is what I am thinking about....thanks

George I use both and what was proved to me was consistency. When you have a gauge that can actually read .5 to 3oz you can see repeatability. The bix'n andy has repeatability. When its set at 2oz it doesnt vary from 2oz at all over as many shots as youd like to measure. Its the only one that does it- i have many examples of all the triggers ever used in BR even some short run custom rigs

I had the chance today to play around with a digital trigger pull scale today. I was amazed at how much variation my jewell triggers have. More than I would have ever bet!! Lee

Throw out the trigger pull scale and get a dynometer .1 oz. resolution and when trigger breaks needle stays where it broke at..then get back with readings..

either chatillon or scherr tumico which was probably made by chatillon all work well. its a nice feature to have needle stay at break point. just push button to reset to zero...

Trigger,

OK, we are hooked. With many Kenyon triggers, lets see one of the Andy, things. How does it work and on what?

Cheers

They work very well and fit where a jewell does- sometimes with a few mods as the aluminum body is wide. You have to have a special hanger for bats. Chris at bulletcentral has them in stock. But i have one in a 40xb 22 and it went right in and works very well
