Press for loading 6brx (dies not contacting shell holder)

When loading a 6mm BRX and having to float the dies approx. .098 above the shell holder, what would be a consistent reasonably priced press. I am currently Lee turret press and don't like the the turret moving and then the shell holder not touching the die...just doesn't seem very accurate. I have thought about a Rockchucker, but would like a little more information before buying.

Reloading the 6mmBRX

If you use a 6mmBR sizing die to size a 6mmBRX you will have to use a body die to size the web area of the case. This can be done by buying a 6mmBR body die and reaming out the top end. Or you can also take a 243, 260, 7mm08, or 308 sizing die and remove the decapping rod.

Thanks for the reply. I am sizing with a .308 body die for that. I guess my biggest concern is consistently bumping the shoulder and seating bullets if i can always flex the handle/ram by pushing a little harder since the shell holder isn't hitting a die. I'm looking for a press that has a solid stopping point so the .098 gap will always be .098 (or as close as possible).

Bumping the shoulder might be a problem, though I tend to doubt it. If you want the shellholder to hit the die, epoxy a spacer on a shellholder, then turn it back so you get your bump.

As for seating the bullet, think it through. The shoulder hitting the die is the best way to seat bullets. The angle on the shoulder will align the case very well.

Most of us seat bullets with a Wilson straight line seater, and a number of us take a bit off the bottom of the die (or don't run the reamer in quite full) so the shoulder helps center the case.

In any event, your concerns are best addressed by dies rather than by presses.
